I am a lawyer and was the assistant foreman of the first grand jury that indicted Medina and his wife. (Medina asked the 263rd District Court in Houston to jail me for having the temerity to publicly object to Rosenthal’s dismissal of the indictments.) In all Medina’s trumpeting of his innocence and what a \mockery of justice\ our grand jury made by indicting him, the one thing that has never been released to the media is the letter Medina presented to investigators that was the basis of the evidence tampering charge we handed down. Release THAT, Justice Medina, and let the public judge for itself whether you tampered with the evidence. So far, every request for that letter has been met with only deafening silence.

What is it with Texas governors and their Mexican lawyers? i.e. like Bush and Gonzales. They say that the people in Texas support the death penalty. That may well be true but do they support outright disrespect for the citizens’ rights and a governor who would not do all that is possible to save the life of one of “HIS” citizens? Is this his idea of being tough on crime? Justice means you try equally as hard to see if a person may be innocent.

To my way of thinking, Perry went full I’m-not-a-crook-Nixon today. It’s a clear sign that a) this thing is getting to him and b) there’s something to it.

Otherwise, Perry would have dribbled out some memo from some other expert that got him off the hook. He doesn’t have one, it appears.

I hope the remainders of our news media (sigh) will see this for what it was. When the pig squeals, that means you hurt him. Keep sticking him.
